As an Educator, Dave has taught Private Lessons since 1979 and has been on the Management and Instructional Staff of Victor Wooten’s Center For Music and Nature since its inception 15 years ago and at Steve Bailey’s ‘Bass at The Beach’ in Myrtle Beach, SC. Dave instills a love of Music, appreciation for art forms, thirst for knowledge, and growth as an individual. Drawing on his experience teaching and performing with some of the world’s most respected musicians, Dave offers students a unique perspective on music performance, theory, improvisation, and composition, while creating a fun and exciting learning environment.

Professional Horn Player performing in several orchestras in CNY, including Catskill Symphony and Clinton Symphony Orchestra. Visiting Lecturer in horn at Cornell University for the past 8 years. Formerly Adjunct Horn Instructor at Onondaga Community college, teaching horn lessons, directing the brass ensemble as well as coaching horn ensembles for 17 years. Private horn studio teaching for the past 28 years. Horn instructor at NYSMF (New York Summer Music Festival) and previously Hartwick College Summer Music Festival and Institute for the past 25 years. Founder of Westside Horns in Syracuse. Horn Tutor for SA National Youth Orchestra 2013.

Ralph Dudgeon trumpet
Biography
Ralph Dudgeon is a versatile musician/scholar who is known for historically informed performance on period instruments as well as his performances of contemporary repertoire. Dudgeon received his Ph.D. in musicology from the University of California, San Diego. He earned a Master of Arts degree in trumpet performance and a Bachelor of Arts in music education from San Diego State University. Dudgeon has appeared throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico and China as a trumpet soloist and conductor. He has recorded for Musical Heritage Society, Music Masters, Newport Classic, Nimbus, Hyperion, Innova, and Spring Tree labels.

I played with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra since 1974 and also the Syracuse Camerata. I am one of the founding members of the Seneca String Quartet.

John Flaver clarinet
Biography
Clarinetist John Flaver earned a B.M. from Temple University and a Master of Music Degree from the Catholic University of America. John is a former member of the United States Army Band, “Pershings Own” in Washington, D.C., the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, and the Lake Placid Center Orchestra. John performs often as a member of The Highland Winds, based in Syracuse. John also served as a Visiting Lecturer in Clarinet at Ithaca College. John has also taught clarinet at Onondaga Community College and directed their Wind Ensemble. John is currently an Adjunct Professor of Music at Le Moyne College.
John Friedrichs clarinet
Biography
From 1984 until 2011, John Friedrichs held the position of Bass Clarinet and Assistant First Chair Clarinet with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Friedrichs attended the Eastman School of Music earning a degree in Music Performance as well as a Performer’s Certificate. While at Eastman he studied with D. Stanley Hasty. In addition to Friedrichs’s current duties with Musical Associates of Central New York, he also performs with the Society for New Music, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and Rochester Philharmonic. He also performs extensively with the Glimmerglass Festival Orchestra, recently performing at the Royal Opera House of Muscat in Oman
Kelly Covert flute/piccolo
Biography
Kelly J. Covert is Visiting Instructor of Flute at Syracuse University. Ms. Covert performs around the country in solo and chamber music concerts. She has played with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Syracuse Opera, and other chamber groups and has taught at Ithaca College and Oswego State University. Ms. Covert has developed a workshop for flutists that uses yoga as a medium to attain better focus and energy during performance and help prevent injury. Ms. Covert attended University of Georgia and Ithaca College where she received her B.M. and M.M. in flute performance. She has studied with Wendy Mehne, Claudia Anderson, Julie Stone, and Jim Zellers.

Biography
BM Crane School of Music MM Northwestern University Music teacher at Sauquoit Valley Central School Elementary Principal at Frankfort-Schuyler and Mount Markham Central Schools. Performed with Rome Concert Band, Utica Symphony, Sal Alberico Big Band, Stage Music Big Band. Performs in the pit for various high school musicals. Has taught privately for 30 years. Many students have gone on to music school. Several students selected for all-state, area all-state, and all-county.

JOHN JEANNERET, a Central New York native, is an active performer, composer, and private woodwind teacher.He received his B.M. in Education and Performance from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and his M.M. in Jazz Performance and Composition from the University of North Texas where he taught small jazz ensembles, jazz arranging and was a composer for the University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band. John has performed with numerous jazz artists and ensembles, including the Dallas Jazz Orchestra to Phil Woods and more recently, the Central New York Jazz Orchestra.

Students have consistently achieved NYSSMA gold ratings and have been selected for honors ensembles. Many have been accepted as saxophone music majors at prestigious colleges and universities all on either full or partial music scholarships.
