John’s Christian Duo is a Christian music group formed in 1990 with the goal to glorify God through music. The group performs original and contemporary arrangements of sacred and secular hymns. The group also performs traditional wedding ceremony music such as well as popular wedding ceremony music. Music performed includes a wide spectrum of styles including classical, jazz, pop, gospel, and holiday music. The Christian Duo has performed at wedding ceremonies, church liturgies, funeral services, and concerts in numerous Syracuse area churches as well as at wedding receptions, holiday parties, and private events.

John’s Jazz/Pop Duo is a versatile, straight-ahead jazz group with stellar jazz pianist Andrew Carroll and others. The group performs jazz standards from the Great American Songbook encompassing a wide spectrum of styles including swing, Latin, ballad, bebop, blues, modal, and contemporary. The Jazz Duo has performed at over 300 professional engagements throughout Central New York including restaurant engagements, wedding reception cocktail hours, wine tastings, fundraisers, jazz festivals, jazz concerts, private events, and corporate functions.

John Spillett's sax/keyboard duo, is a versatile jazz group formed in 1995 featuring some of the finest jazz musicians in Central New York. The duo has performed more than 1000 professional engagements in Central New York. The group performs an unique upbeat mix of music which encompasses a wide spectrum of jazz and contemporary music styles including swing, classic jazz, bebop, smooth jazz, traditional jazz, Latin, blues,, modal, pop, rock, R&B and reggae.

About
From 1984 until 2011, John Friedrichs held the position of Bass Clarinet and Assistant First Chair Clarinet with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Friedrichs attended the Eastman School of Music earning a degree in Music Performance as well as a Performer’s Certificate. While at Eastman he studied with D. Stanley Hasty. In addition to Friedrichs’s current duties with Musical Associates of Central New York, he also performs with the Society for New Music, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and Rochester Philharmonic. He also performs extensively with the Glimmerglass Festival Orchestra, recently performing at the Royal Opera House of Muscat in Oman.

Bandleader and musical instrument collector Jeff Stockham brings the sights and sounds of the conflict to your classes, using rare original instruments and artifacts from the 1861-1865 period to perform the bugle, drum, fife, and band music that was essential to the everyday routine of Civil War troops. This unique program brings the music and daily experiences of the Civil War soldier to life.

Kelly J. Covert is Visiting Instructor of Flute at Syracuse University. Ms. Covert performs around the country in solo and chamber music concerts. She has played with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Syracuse Opera, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, Syracuse Society for New Music, Ensemble X, Red House Theater, and other chamber groups and has taught at Ithaca College and Oswego State University. Ms. Covert has developed a workshop for flutists that uses yoga as a medium to attain better focus and energy during performance and help prevent injury. Ms. Covert attended University of Georgia and Ithaca College where she received her B.M. and M.M. in flute performance. Accepting work w/in 120 miles of Syracuse.

Glenn Roberts plays trumpet regularly as associate principal trumpet with the Northern Symphonic Winds. He has also performed with the Orchestra of Northern New York, and for various choral festival orchestras throughout the St. Lawrence County area. Equally proficient in pit orchestras as well as concert band settings and orchestral music, he has performed as principal trumpet in 3 productions of the Community Performance Series summer musicals and in pit orchestras for many area high schools. He is also available to play church services. Glenn has a BM in music education and MM in trumpet performance from the Crane School of Music.

Tour experience: US with Les Miserables; Europe and Africa with blues legend Jimmy Johnson; Europe, Israel, and US with Thelonius Monk Jr.'s "Monk on Monk" big band; Europe with George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, a top European jazz ensemble. His experience in Jazz, Classical, Commercial, Funk, Soul, R&B, Big Band, and Historical styles makes him a mainstay in the region’s bands and studios.
